Chapter 2: Tower Under Fire!
This is the World Clock update!
It brings a time system into the game which changes the entire ambience as time progresses through the stages of a day. Complete with lighting, unique music; and a whole new feel!
I also added a nice texture for grass! It's not perfect but it's a 4k digitally painted texture that'll hopefully make things a little nicer.
I also added in Lantern Towers, I wanted a way to add score and make progression feel nice. Lantern Towers will light when you use your fire breath to rise near them. This will give you some score, which is now visible! As well as a nice little sound and visual effect! It's a nice little add that also has a little texture with it.
Enter Dragon Fire! To make the towers I work originally you just had to pass them. Which felt a bit too relaxing, it's a casual relaxing game but I still want some kind of engagement to keep the core gameplay interesting.
So, I then tried making the player have to rise using fire breath as they passed the tower. This often was difficult and very anti-relaxing and frustrating no matter how I shaped the collision zone.
Then I circled back to an idea I had thought of before; spitting fire!
Now, you can press a button and spit that dragon fire! There's even a little sound with an animation!
I focused a bit on getting in some key stuff to make it more game-like. I spent a few hours trying my hand at modelling and texturing some things. As well as optimizing the game a little more.
The updates going forward will be as small and nicely packed as this one. I don't feel big bulky updates are needed to make this game more enjoyable. Just a few new pieces of content mixed with some feature adds/updates.
